Where has the money for Athletes gone?

During the past 10 year period (2009/10 – 2018/19) the cost of Triathlon Australia employees and employee numbers has increased more than EIGHT (8) fold while World Championship and Olympic Games performances have declined substantially.

In this period a greater proportion of TA’s total funding is being directed towards salaries of TA employees. Whilst overall membership numbers (including elite athletes) are in decline, staff levels continue to rise.  

In addition, athlete performance on the world stage has declined while staffing levels have increased.

The graphs clearly show these trends.

While this increase in expenditure on Triathlon Australia employees and employee benefits take place, Athletes - particularly U23 and Junior - are either left without funding, are only allowed a very small funding allocation, or not even considered for funding.

Triathlon Australia needs a full independent review.
